This will be our seventh time at this art festival in Fernandina Beach in eight art festival seasons. As I’ve mentioned beforeprevious, Amelia Island goes all out for this festival with parades, pageants, fireworks, etc. They are expecting around 135 thousand visitors this year. We are happy to be participating in this festival for the sixth time. Fernandina Beach goes all out for their Shrimp Festival. The Art Festival will be free to the public from 9 am to 6 pm on Saturday, May 5th, and from 10 to 5 on Sunday. They are expecting around 120 thousand visitors to about 320 artists along Centre Street in the historic business district as far east as 8th Street, and about a block on each side of Centre Street along all side streets. This year we will be in Booth S307 on 3rd Street south of Centre Street. During the art festival, there will also be antiques and live entertainment. Besides the art festival, there will be an ice cream eating contest, the Pirate In Training contest, the Little Pirates contest, the Topsy Smith Memorial beard contest, the decorated shrimp boat contest, the Shrimp Festival Parade (on the preceding Thursday), the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant, a 5k run (or three alternatives), and fireworks. We will be back in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island for one of our favorite festivals. This will be our third time here. The Fine Arts & Crafts Show is free to the public, and is open on Saturday, May 3rd from 9 am to 6 pm (although we could stay past sunset), and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Other activities start with the Shrimp Festival Pirate Parade at 6 pm on Thursday evening (May 1st). We will be in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island this weekend. This is our second time at this festival and it is definitely one of our favorites. We have applied for the 49th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival Fine Arts & Crafts Show in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida on May 5th and 6th. This will be the furthest show from home that we have done so far. We won’t know if we are accepted until the Ides of March, so check back later if you are planning on meeting us there.
The show hours are 9 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Their new web site, www.shrimpfestival.com, should be ready in February.
